YouTube As Cash Cow: Charlie Bit My Finger Family Has Earned $500,000 [Video]

In 2007 father Howard Davies-Carr put up a YouTube video titled “Charlie Bit My Finger” which as the name suggests featured a baby boy named Charlie who bit his brothers finger.

Since going viral just over 4 years ago the video has been viewed 436 million times, earning the family heaps of money under Google’s revenue sharing program.

According to Mr. Davies-Carr he almost removed the video at one boy but then realized:

“At first I thought, well, this is a bit strange, maybe I should take it down.  And then I realized that, well, if I take it down then what would happen is that everybody that’s already created parodies or taken a copy of it and put it on their own website will just keep those running.”

Lanka has proud record of safeguarding human rights: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa

Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday said that his country has a rich and proud record of safeguarding human rights.

Addressing a public gathering in the central town of Balangoda, Rajapaksa said Sri Lanka's human rights protection was inspired by the influence of Buddhism over a period of over 2,500 years.

Rajapaksa said his objective while appointing the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) was that he did not want the problems faced by the people carried forward to the next generation.

The President said it was his responsibility to resolve all problems faced by his people. He said LLRC was Sri Lanka's own probe and no one had the right to force its implementation. He did not want lessons on protecting human rights from outside.

Gujarat moving ahead despite all odds: Narendra Modi

Ahmedabad: Launching a veiled attack at the Centre, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that despite "hurdles" his government was moving ahead with its comprehensive single-point agenda of development.

"Gujarat is blessed by 'Matra Shakti', which serves as a shield for fast pace development of the state, despite all odds," Modi said, hailing women for their participation in development of the state.

He was addressing a state-level convention for women. Targeting the Centre, the chief minister said, "You have seen that those opposed to Gujarat are creating hurdles at every steps in development of the state. But I assure you that Gujarat government is committed to the development of people of the state".

Modi said anganwadi workers despite their weak economic background were performing a good job of instilling higher moral values among the children in their formative years.

Salgaocar scrape past Air India in I-League

Margao: Defending champions Salgaocar Sports Club relied on a solitary penalty strike from Ryuji Sueoka to scrape past Air India in a 22nd round I-League clash at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Saturday. Sueoka converted a 23rd minute penalty to give Salgaocar three points and some good morale before they travel to Jordan for their AFC Cup clash against Al Widhat.

Salgaocar took the field without suspended Nigerian striker Edeh Chidi but the home side were never short on attacking firepower. Sueoka himself was breathing down Air India's neck all the time while Beevan D'Mello's paces also created several problems for his markers. Salgaocar, however, could not translate their domination into goals as several chances were muffed by the likes of Sueoka, Beevan, Francis Fernandes and Ishfaq Ahmed.

AC Milan drop points after 1-1 draw at Catania in Serie A

Milan: AC Milan dropped two crucial points as they were held 1-1 by Catania at the Stadio Angelo Massimino in Saturday's Serie A clash. A first-half Robinho strike was cancelled out by an equaliser by Nicolas Spolli as the hosts claimed a deserved point, and denied the Rossoneri a chance to open up a seven point gap at the top of Serie A.

Catania started brightly, and fired an early warning shot after only four minutes of play, when Gonzalo Bergessio fired into the side netting after sprinting clear down the right. Milan did not take long to hit back, after Urby Emanuelson latched onto an Antonio Nocerino pass and broke free of the defence, only to see Juan Carrizo block his finish at the last moment.

Makers not afraid of releasing films during IPL 5

Mumbai: Bollywood filmmakers have put up a brave act this year by lining up a string of big and small budget films for release in the next two months even as the cricket fever kicks off from April 4 with IPL season 5. This year, films which will face the IPL, mainly include Sajid Khan's multi starrer comic caper, 'Housefull 2' (April 6), actor John Abraham's maiden home production 'Vicky Donor' (April 20), Viacom 18 Motion Pictures' 'Bittoo Boss' (April 20) and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Ferrai Ki Sawari' (April 27).
