26/11: Pakistan panel to arrive in Mumbai today

Mumbai: The much-awaited eight-member Pakistan judicial commission will arrive in Mumbai on Thursday to record the statement of four people including the magistrate who had recorded the confessional statement of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving member of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT), which was behind the 26/11 attacks.
After a delay of nearly six months, the commission, finally arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to official sources, the team will record the statements on March 16 and 17.
Ahead of their arrival, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of the Esplanade court in south Mumbai issued summons to magistrate R V Sawant Waghule, who had recorded Kasab's confession, and crime branch officer Ramesh Mahale, who was the investigating officer in the November 26, 2008 terror strike by LeT terrorists in Mumbai in which over 160 people were killed.
Two doctors from state-run JJ Hospital and civic-run Nair hospital have also been asked to appear in court to record their statements. They had conducted autopsies on the nine killed terrorists and victims of the terror strike which lasted for nearly 72 hours.
While Waghule and Mahale have been summoned on March 16, statements of the doctors will be recorded on March 17.
The commission comprises defence lawyers Khwaja Haris, Riya Akram Choudhary, Fakhar Haayat, Raja Ehassan Ulhakhan and Isaam Bin Haris, special public prosecutors Choudhary Mohammed Azhar and Choudhary Ali and court official Azad Khan.
The statements of the four witnesses will be used as evidence before an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan, which is conducting trial against LeT's Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and six other suspects.

Injured Mathews out of Asia Cup

Mirpur: Allrounder Angelo Mathews was on Wednesday ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup due to a calf injury, dealing a blow to Sri Lanka's chances in the four-nation tournament.
Fast-bowling allrounder Shaminda Eranga has been named as replacement for Mathews. Eranga was originally named in Sri Lanka's Test squad to play Pakistan in the UAE last year, but had to withdraw with a shoulder injury to his right arm.
The last couple of days Angelo has had some fitness tests, he hasn't pulled through those well, so we made a call to send him back home, Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene said.
He will try to get ready for the Test matches (against England) that starts in about ten days' time. The selectors back home will decide (on his replacement).
With Thisara Perera also missing due to a back injury, there is a dearth of allrounders in the Sri Lankan squad, which forced Tillakaratne Dilshan to bowl his quota of ten overs in the opening game against India on Tuesday.
Such was their plight in the opening game that Sri Lanka had to turn to Chamara Kapugedera, who has taken just two wickets in his 90-match ODI career.
The team is yet to confirm injured pace spearhead Lasith Malinga's availabilitty for Thursday's match against Pakistan.
Malinga played through injury in the final two matches of the CB series, so we decided to give him a break yesterday (against India).
Yesterday he bowled a bit, he will be bowling today as well, and after his bowling session we will take a call on him tomorrow, Jayawardene said after a training session here.

Boeing to pay AI $500 mn for delayed deliveries

Hyderabad: The Boeing Co has agreed to compensate Air India $500 million for the delay in the delivery of 50 aircraft, but the state-run carrier is pushing for more, a senior official said.
Air India has sought $1 billion as compensation for the three-year delay in the delivery of 50 long-range Boeing jets worth about $6 billion.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of India Aviation 2012, which began in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Prashant Sukul, joint secretary in the civil aviation ministry, said Boeing had agreed to pay $500 million. He, however, said the talks were still on with the aircraft maker.
The aircraft include 27 Boeing 787 Dreamliner that is being showcased at India Aviation.
Earlier, replying to a query at the news conference, Ajit Singh said the negotiations about compensation were on with the Boeing. He did not elaborate.
Dinesh A Keskar, president, Boeing India and senior vice president, sales, Asia Pacific and India, refused to comment. "We don't discuss such issues in public," was all he said when asked about the official's comment that the company has agreed to pay compensation.

Amend tax laws for senior citizens: 70-yr-old to FM

Kolkata: A senior citizen Manik Dabriwal wants tax laws to be amended so that citizens above the age of 60 years can claim deductions on the medical insurance premium paid by dependents.
Manik, a 70-year-old businessman, spends his days catching up on the news that is something he didn't have time for when he was young. In his twilight years, Manik hopes to reap the benefit of his age, as does his 60-year-old wife. But there's a problem.
The Income Tax Act says one has to be 60 to be termed a senior citizen. But the age limit is 65 for benefits on medical insurance premiums.
"The government is not clear about what they should define as senior citizens. Somewhere it is 58, somewhere it is 60, somewhere 65. I fail to understand why can't they fix one age. For PF it is different, under Section 80D it is different," Manik said.
Under Section 80D of the Act, deductions can be claimed on medical insurance premiums up to a maximum of Rs 15,000. If premium is paid for the medical insurance of a senior citizen an additional Rs 20,000 can be deducted.
So Manik's wife can claim all the benefits of being a senior citizen, but not on medical insurance.
"My plea to the honorable Finance Minister Pranab ji is remove these anomalies in the age of senior citizens. Senior citizens throughout India should be known by one age only. Kindly fix the age for senior citizens," Manik said.

Highlighting the success of the pick-up and drop-off facility at the Chennai Central station, he said this could be replicated at Metro Rail stations, as well. Kumar also said that plans to run a feeder bus to the stations, feeder routes and bus stops are underway. He added that the parking requirements should be assessed and a common parking solution should be framed with the involvement of all stakeholders. He stressed the need for hawking zones so that stations could have an "happening experience". University of Hyderabad ditches students

HYDERABAD: Nursing students of the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Hyderabad on Tuesday took to the streets in protest against the administrations failure to get the Indian Nursing Councils (INC) recognition for the five-year integrated masters course in nursing sciences. The course was introduced in 2008 by the then vice-chancellor Prof Sayed E Hasnain and the School of Medical Sciences had at the time assured the students that recognition would be secured in due course. However, on Dr Geetha K Vemuganthi, Dean of the School informing that the current batches have no chance of passing out with INC recognised certificates has put the students in a spot of bother. Around 80 students comprising four batches will be affected if the course doesnt get an INC recognition. The students, who have been boycotting classes, staged a demonstration in the garden in front of the administrative block in a novel way, by cooking and having their lunch there itself. We are peacefully protesting and we will not bow down, said V Prasanth, a student of fourth-year, IMSC Nursing Sciences.According to the school, the application for recognition was submitted in January last year. The five-year course is not there in the Indian Nursing Councils programme. So we are revising the course now to combine Bachelors and Masters in four years. The proposal has been submitted to the INC and a response is expected by July this year, Dr Geetha told City Express.Asked about the anxiety the students were facing, she replied, Once the course gets recognized, we will request the INC to recognise the existing students also. The students, though, are not convinced. They believe any professional course in nursing is useless without the INCs recognition and are understandably worried about their job prospects. The certificates without INCs recognition will not be valid. We will not get jobs and will not qualify for higher studies, said Prakash Kodali, a third-year student. He also doubted the varsitys claim that it is putting pressure on the council to grant recognition for them. If the INC asks for proof regarding the course being run by the university in the past few years, I doubt if they would be able to do so. We do not have a regular curriculum, and had no regular faculty till recently, he explained. There are also concerns that the university may discontinue the course till recognition is acquired. Asked about the same, the dean said, We are awaiting a response from the council. We will take a new batch only after receiving recognition which we are hopeful of getting soon. The course is one of the most expensive courses in the university with the students paying around Rs 28,000 on an average per semester. We did not think twice before joining. We fell for the name and reputation of the Central University, rued V Ramya, a third-year student.

Razing of Bangalore's 'Pisa Tower' halted

BANGALORE: In the wee hours of Tuesday, tension prevailed at Shantipura near Electronics City when a five-storey building slowly tilted to its right side. A security person spotted this and raised an alarm. By 6 am on Tuesday, the fire officials and police personnel rushed to the spot. Sources said both the contractor and builder had absconded by then. However, officials started to evacuate the building by 6.30 am. The building next to the tilted building is a four-storey structure and has 13 flats. We reached here around 6 am and evacuated all the houses. Owner of the neighbouring building, Sarita Jha, has filed a complaint against the building owner Vijaykumar and engineer and a criminal case has been registered, said A V Lakshminarayana, Inspector, Parappana Agrahara Police Station.Sarita claimed that there was a threat to life to residents of neighbouring buildings and this had taken place due to the negligence and the lack of quality materials used to construct the building. I stay in BTM Layout and when I got to know about this, I rushed to the spot. I am worried as this building was constructed a year ago, said Sarita. It is dangerous and this is what happens when people break rules and fail to get safety certificates, said T Avinash, a neighbour.Gram Panchayat officials examined the building and noted that it was an illegal construction. The building does not have safety certificates. It is unauthorised and does not have any licence. This building was constructed in four months. Stagnant water had collected in the basement and this could have caused the tilt, said Mariyanna, PDO, Bangalore Rural. He said, It is illegal to construct any building with over three floors in this area. Now we are surveying the area to book charges against all such building owners, he said. Bangalore Urban DC N Aiyyappa said that a criminal case has been registered against the building owner. He gave the demolition orders and high reach demolition equipment was brought to the spot. The demolition started at 8 pm. But it was stopped due to some complications and the work would continue on Wednesday afternoon, Lokesh, an operator involved in the work said.

Imran Khan cancels India trip over Salman Rushdie

New Delhi: Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has reportedly cancelled a visit to India after it emerged that author Salman Rushdie would be speaking at the same conference. The Express Tribune reported that Imran Khan refused to attend the India Today conclave in New Delhi if Salman Rushdie was also going to be present.
A leader from Imran's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), Shireen Mazari, issued a statement that Khan cancelled his participation as a key-note speaker at the conclave stating that he could not even think of participating in a program that included Rushdie, who has caused 'immeasurable hurt to Muslims across the globe'.
The organisers announced on Tuesday that Rushdie would speak at the conference, two months after death threats forced him to withdraw from India's premier literature festival. In January, Rushdie was forced to pull out of the Jaipur literary festival, one of the biggest such events in south Asia, after protests by Indian Muslim groups, which consider his 1988 novel 'The Satanic Verses' blasphemous.
The writer, who has Indian origins, is due to speak on Friday in Delhi at a conference, hosted by the India Today media group, in a talk called 'The Liberty Verses'.
Rushdie's 1988 novel 'The Satanic Verses' is still banned in India and Pakistan for allegedly blaspheming against Islam and the holy Quran.
The 64-year-old writer, who was born in Mumbai, spent a decade in hiding after Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini issued a fatwa in 1989 calling for his death over the book.

Paes, Sania enter Indian Wells doubles quarters

Indian Wells: Australian Open winners Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek saw off a stiff resistance from Juan Monaco and Kei Nishikori to advance to the quarter-finals of the ATP Indian Wells Masters on Tuesday.
The seventh-seeded Indo-Czech pair scored a tough 7-6(5), 6-4 win in the second round over their unseeded opponents.
They will now fight it out with the giant-killing Spanish pair of Marc Lopez and Rafael Nadal for a place in the last-four.
Lopez and Nadal had knocked out third seeds Michael Llodra and Nenad Zimonjic in their opening-round match.
Earlier, the Indian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna suffered a first-round exit in the USD 4,694,969 hard court event. They lost to the French pair of Julien Benneteau and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Meanwhile, Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina moved into quarter-finals of the WTA event after scoring a hard-fought win over Timea Bacsinszky and Alberta Brianti.
The second seeds dominated the proceedings in the beginning but lost the second set before winning the second-round match 6-1, 3-6, 10-2.
They will next face the Argentine pair of Gisela Dulko and Paola Suarez in the last-eight stage match.
Sania had exited the singles event after losing her second-round match against Anabel Medina Garrigues.

Chelsea thrash Napoli to enter CL quarters

London: Chelsea have progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League following a 4-1 win over Napoli at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, winning 5-4 on aggregate.
Chelsea made four changes from the team that beat Stoke at the weekend as David Luiz replaced Gary Cahill in the centre of defence, Michael Essien started in favour of John Obi Mikel, Juan Mata came in for Raul Meireles and Daniel Sturridge took the place of Salomon Kalou in attack.
Napoli also made changes, but following their incredible 6-3 win over Cagliari at the weekend, only two changes were made to the team. Andrea Dossena was replaced by Christian Maggio and danger man Edinson Cavani returned to the starting line-up for Goran Pandev.
Chelsea opened the scoring through Didier Drogba, finding the net with his head in the first-half, and they doubled their lead on the night just after halftime as John Terry nodded in from a corner.
Napoli put themselves back in the lead on aggregate soon after as Gokhan Inler smashed an effort home on the edge of the area, but Frank Lampard restored their two-goal lead on the night as he scored from the penalty spot, and Branislav Ivanovic got the goal to send Chelsea through in extra-time.
The first chance of the match fell to Sturridge as he volleyed goalwards at an angle in the penalty area, but Morgan De Sanctis palmed it behind for a corner.
It didn't take long for Napoli to show their attacking ability, however. Inler played the ball into Ezequiel Lavezzi on the edge of the penalty area and after swivelling, he let rip, but Petr Cech made the save, if a little awkwardly.
The visitors were continuing to look extremely imperious in attack. This time it was Cavani who went close, getting on the end of Maggios low cross at the back-post, but much to the relief of the Chelsea fans the Uruguayan could only find the side netting, and Chelsea eventually made him pay.
After 27 anonymous minutes, Drogba gave the home team the lead. Ramires took up possession on the left wing and delivered an excellent ball towards the near-post for Drogba to throw himself at and nod down past De Sanctis.
Chelsea continued to control much of the action and went close to extending their lead just before halftime. Following a corner, Ramires found Luiz in space on the right side of the area, but the Brazilians low drilled cross was brilliantly cut out by Paolo Cannavaro, just ahead of Drogba, giving De Sanctis the opportunity to gather it to keep the score at 1-0 at halftime.
It didn't take long for the hosts to level the aggregate score after halftime, however. Napoli sloppily gave away a corner, and Terry rose highest to head the ball out of De Sanctis reach and double Chelseas lead on the night.
Chelseas two goal lead didnt last long, though. With 54 minutes gone, Terry headed substitute Dossenas cross out to the edge of the area, but only as far as Inler, who chested the ball under control and smashed a half-volley into Cechs bottom right corner.
The Napoli goal hardly ushered in a new sense of urgency in the Chelsea performance, but Roberto Di Matteo did see fit the decision to bring on Fernando Torres, who had gone 25 matches for club and country without a goal.
A little later, Drogba again tested the former Sevilla goalkeeper. Ivanovics throw-in found its way to the Ivorian, who spun and volleyed with his left foot, but De Sanctis threw himself down to his right and tipped the ball round the post for a corner.
With 20 minutes left on the clock, the visitors came so close to levelling the score on the night. Camilo Zuniga linked well with Lavezzi and a slip from Ashley Cole allowed the Colombian to march into the area, but his shot was saved by the right hand of Cech, who did well to palm it away from the lurking Cavani.
Five minutes later, however, Chelsea won themselves a penalty and took a 3-1 lead on the night. From a corner, Ivanovic headed the ball onto the right hand of Dossena, with the referee rightly pointing to the spot, from where Frank Lampard buried his effort.
Clear-cut chances were few and far between after Lampard's penalty and the two teams were forced to play another half-hour of football as the aggregate score was tied at 4-4.
Following a few chances for Ivanovic and Torres in the opening half of extra-time, Chelsea got the goal to send themselves through just before halftime as the Serbian defender slammed a shot into the roof of the net after excellent work on the right from Drogba.
The second-half of extra-time was very nervy for the hosts, but after Drogba missed a golden opportunity in the dying moments, Chelsea held on despite pressure from their visitors and progressed to the next round.

Macho Mastana, Rs 7 cr, is costliest Bengali film

Kolkata: Popular television actress and model Pooja Bose said she was ecstatic about her debut Bengali movie -- the most expensive Bengali feature film made till date.
"I am very happy to be the part of the team. I have always dreamt of working in a Bengali film which has now has come true," the bong beauty said here.
The movie, 'Macho Mastana', with a budget of Rs 7 crore will see popular Bengali star Hiraan essaying the title role with Bose playing his love interest. The film is slated to release in March.
Bose, an established telly star, has played key roles in several popular serial including 'Kahaani Humaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki' and 'Tujh Sang Lagai Sajana'.
She has also worked in a Hindi film alongside Manisha Koirala.
"Pooja is perfect of blend of glamour and her knowledge about acting is very sound, she does her homework very well," Reshmi Mitra, the director of the film, said.
The glamorous actress has also worked in a Telegu film, 'Veedu Thenda'. She will be also seen in another upcoming Bengali film, 'Diwana Holo Mon', again with Hiraan.

Is Kollywood fair to the fairer sex?

Popular women filmmakers present their take on whether the glass ceiling exists only in the mind.
Gayatri
Filmmakers Pushkar and Gayatri, who hogged the limelight with films like Oram Po and Va Quarter Cutting, have been one of the interesting couple in the film industry. Together from college, the duo definitely knew what to expect from each other. However, Gayatri feels the only issue that a woman will face in this film industry would be personal or practical difficulties.
"Sometimes you feel odd and spaced-out while working with a lot of male technicians. But otherwise, with Pushkar, who has always been with me, there were hardly any hurdles. He is a great comforting factor.
"Earlier, there were only a few women who wanted to become filmmakers, but now, if you notice, every filmmaker will have at least one woman assistant director in his team. So, its only the number of men that is big, which will also change soon."
She also feels that a woman in the film industry is treated with equal respect by her colleagues. "I had never faced any trouble with my teammates or colleagues while working. In fact, when you direct a film, you are seen only as a director and not categorised by your gender, these days," she says.
Nandini JS
Till five years ago, the common perception was that women directors can direct only ad films. But now, with TV channels telecasting our interviews, peoples understanding has changed. If one film directed by a woman director becomes a big hit, then everything will change.
The situation here is that the producers are not still confident about investing money on women directors. But corporates care only about the final product, which makes it easier for women directors. When I approached Sathyam Cinemas and Real Image for my film Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, they only asked me to take three scenes from the movie to assess my capability. Once they were convinced, they agreed immediately.
I think we don't have to make films like men. Then, why are we here? Let our films be different and offer fresh perspectives.
Madhumitha
The scenario has definitely changed conducive to women directors in the industry, though not enough. There are six of us in the Tamil film industry now. The reason why direction is considered male domain is because its 24/7 job. So, it was not acceptable for women to take up direction as there should be someone at home to take care of the family. Whereas, in other countries, it's just another job and its OK for men to do 9-to-5 job and be a home-maker.
I didn't enter cinema after suddenly finding cinema was my calling. I did my graduation in Singapore and my film studies in the New York Film Institute. So, I have six years of education about movies.
The first thing a woman director should do is to make the team understand that you are capable. Movies directed by women might be different in terms of perceptive.
Priya V
For filmmaker Priya, a lot of her friends who are men, have helped her showcase her talent in this industry. She thinks times have changed and so has the film industry. "I have had inspiring men around me who helped me come up in life. "My father, brother, my guru, Mani Ratnam and producer of my first film, Prakashraj have only changed my life in a good way," she says, and adds, Of course, there are many women filmmakers but they are not dominating this industry."
The Kandal Naal Mudhal director doesnt like to be compared or to compete with others in Kollywood. She feels that her work has to prove what she is. Im not here to compete with any filmmakers. In fact, while shooting too, I don't face any gender bias. When you do your work sincerely, you get credit. People will respect and treat you accordingly."
Aishwarya R Dhanush
Aishwarya R Dhanush, who is now in the process of completing her directorial debut, 3, says people in her crew have no qualms taking instructions from her just because she is a woman. Definitely not, nobody has ever had problems in taking instructions. It is work at the end of the day, she says in the most matter-of-fact manner. According to her, gone are the days when people looked at a person differently just because she was a woman. "In today's world, gender bias is almost extinct and Im glad that it is like that," she says.
Aishwarya also dismisses any idea that women directors might have difficulties when it comes to handling the technical side of making a film. "The only thing that matters is the knowledge you have about your work, not if you are man or woman," she says. "With regard to my experience in making the film, people have been really encouraging and supportive." Support from the family front is essential for a woman to step out of the house and succeed professionally, Aishwarya says. "My husband Dhanush has been really supportive that way," she adds.

Dabangg 2: Salman Khan's item number 'Pandeyji'

New Delhi: After shaking a leg in 'Humka Peeni Hai' and 'Munni Badnaam' in Dabangg, media reports claim that Bollywood actor Salman Khan will do an item number in the sequel. The song is titled 'Pandeyji Maare Seeti'.
If rumours are to be believed, 'Munni' Malaika Arora Khan will also make an appearance in the 'Pandeyji' song with Salman. After the success of Dabangg, which was released in 2010, everyone has high expectations with the sequel. Arbaaz Khan, who is also the director of the film, is leaving no stone unturned to make Dabangg 2 a hit.
Actress Kareena Kapoor will also do a special appearance in the movie. Lately, there were reports that Salman doesn't want Bebo's item number to look like 'Ye Mera Dil' from Shah Rukh Khan's Don. He has totally rejected the idea of having a remix track for the item number. Sonakshi Sinha is the leading lady of the film; hopefully she will have some screen time too.
So let's wait and watch who grabs more eyeballs, Salman or Kareena's item number in Dabangg 2.
After three hits back to back, Dabangg, Ready and Bodyguard, Salman is riding high on success. Dabangg has already become a brand in Bollywood. Now the question remains, can the Khan brothers encash the opportunity?

'Paan Singh' director: Films are not newspapers

New Delhi: Tigmanshu Dhulia was a well known name in the television industry before he decided to become a film director. His first film 'Haasil' in 2003 proved to be the real launching pad for the versatile Irrfan Khan. Dhulia came with 'Charas' in 2004 but he had to wait till 2011 for his next release 'Shagird'. Back to back success of 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster' and 'Paan Singh Tomar' has brought the spotlight on Dhulia again. Tigmanshu talks about his films and how personal tragedies influence films.
Q: When did you decide to become a Hindi film director?
A: I decided when I was in Allahabad doing theatres. I was in the university organising film clubs and watching great filmmakers.
Q: Why did you start with a dark film like 'Haasil'?
A: I don't think 'Haasil' was a dark film. It was a pure commercial film with dance and songs.
Q: Your prime characters are always inclined towards crime.
A: This happened with just two films and both of them had this tragic flaw. Irrfan feels in 'Haasil' that he is not good looking and that's why he saw Jimmy Shergill as a threat. Similarly, Nana Patekar in 'Shagird' was actually trying to save his family and that was the main reason behind him indulging in illegal activities.
Q: But it was the same in 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster' also.
A: They had a reason for it. Jimmy was doing it because he wanted to regain his lost pride of being a king. Mahie was doing it because she wanted her husband back, and Randeep did bad things because he was truly in love with Mahie Gill.
Q: What was the thinking behind leaving the film open ended? A new driver arrives in the end.
A: I just wanted an end. Mahie wins the election and says thank you but I wanted to end at a hook point. Basically it's like adding 'kesar' to 'biryani'.
Q: What went wrong with 'Charas'?
A: The main problem with 'Charas' was that it came before its time. Probably the title also went against the film. I guess I was trying to make a very ambitious film within a limited budget. The money finished before the shooting reached till climax. I had to shoot the climax in Boriveli where I couldn't even use the wide angle lens. Most of the Irrfan's scenes were shot with tele-lens. Many more compromises were made too.
Q: For the first time you have used stills in the opening credit of 'Paan Singh Tomar'.
A: The content decides the form. 'Paan Singh Tomar' is a linear film. I wanted the film to unfold slowly.
Q: You touched the topic of cast clashes in 'Paan Singh Tomar' but refrained from going into the details.
A: I think it was not needed. The film works even without it.
Q: But that was an important thing to talk about.
A: Whatever you say but there are constraints in expressing yourself in India. It's always better to speak about important things than speaking about trivial issues and invite censorship. You have to win a war not a skirmish.
Q: You were quite outspoken in 'Haasil'.
A: No, no. I am talking about censorship. You think this is easy? I wanted to be more precise and clear in 'Haasil' also but it's easier said than done. I took Ashutosh Rana for that role because of his chaste Hindi but I had to change some dialogue in dubbing. Then I decided to let go the unimportant things and stick to important things.
Q: Any particular reason behind giving secondary characters some really cool punch lines?
A: (Laughs) Just to add colours to the film. Film is not a newspaper where you only need to give information.
Q: Love is not possible without violence in your films.
A: (Laughs) Mera mangal bahut galat jagah pe hai (My stars are not at the right places). See I have loved too. My wife was in class seventh and I was in class eighth, since then we are in love. I really had to struggle hard to get her. Aaj ke jaisa pyar toh tha nahi ki kahin bhi mil liye (It was not like today's love that you can meet anywhere). You basically project your own life onto the screen. What else can an outsider director like me say other than his own stories.
