Albie Morkel looking at IPL to boost SA career

New Delhi: South African allrounder Albie Morkel, who hit a seven-ball 28 to propel Chennai Super Kings to an improbable last-ball win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday, is hoping that his IPL exploits help establish himself as a regular in South Africa’s squads for all formats.
Morkel's performance for defending champions Chennai helped the team score what appeared an impossible 43 off 12 balls as they chased down a target of 206, the second highest chase in IPL history. With the ICC World Twenty20 to be held in Sri Lanka in September, Morkel hoped the South African selectors were keeping tabs on his IPL 5 performances.

IPL 5: Warner will increase competition in Delhi: Taylor

New Delhi: A fit-again Ross Taylor is confident of playing for Delhi Daredevils for the entire fifth season of the IPL, but feels the team management will have some tough decisions to make on its overseas players when Australian opener David Warner returns from the West Indies. Taylor is aware that with the presence of Mahela Jayawardene and Kevin Pietersen in the set-up, it will not be easy to fit in among the four foreign players, but he had no complaints.

IPL 5, Match 15: KKR beat RR by 5 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders innings:
20th over: 137 for 5. It's all over, Doeschate hits a huge six to win it for KKR.
19th over: 131 for 5. Scores are level! Needing 15 to win from 12 balls, Shakib Al Hasan hits the third ball out of the park for the maximum and then mistimes the next one to give a simple catch to Menaria at point. Meanwhile, Yusuf Pathan's deaf touch for four off the last ball almost seals the game for them.

The $450 Nokia Lumia 900's materials cost $209

Helsinki: Materials of Nokia's new flagship model smartphone, the Lumia 900, cost $209, some 46 percent of its retail price, with the Finnish firm saving on processor and memory cost, teardown analysis of research firm IHS iSuppli showed on Wednesday.
"The Lumia 900 represents a make-or-break effort by Nokia and Microsoft to re-establish their foothold in the smartphone business," the researcher said.
"While Nokia is willing to accept hardware lower margins to carve out smartphone market share, Microsoft also is pitching in on the operating system software side," it said.

In addition to Qualcomm chipset, the Lumia 900 uses Samsung's $58 display, memory from Micron and Elpida, and smaller components from Broadcom and STMicroelectronics, the researcher said.
IHS iSuppli said materials of SII Skyrocket, similar model from Nokia's key rival Samsung, cost $236 as the Korean firms has to use more expensive processor and more memory to reach similar performance.

Money laundering case resgistered against Tatra chief Ravinder Rishi

New Delhi: A money laundering case has been registered against Vectra chief Ravinder Rishi and his firms by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to probe alleged generation of illegal funds in the defence deal between Tatra Sipox UK and defence PSU BEML.
The agency has registered the case after gathering initial details of the probe from the CBI and other official channels and it is set to question few people including Rishi in this regard.
The ED, according to sources, is probing if these defence deals and those involved in the execution of the agreements had 'off the book' or overpriced transactions leading to generation of illegal funds which could have been subsequently laundered in other investment avenues.
The CBI has earlier questioned Rishi many times in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Tatra truck supply to the Army.

Live Updates: Kallis wicket gives RR hope

Kolkata Knight Riders innings:
13th over: 79 for 2. It has been now 23 balls before the last boundary was hit. Botha gives just five from his last over as he keeps the batsmen in the middle down to just ones or twos. He finishes with figures of 1 for 22 from his four.
12th over: 74 for 2. Things are getting tight now as Brad Hogg bowls another brilliant over. Gives away just for runs to put pressure on the batting side. This is going down the wire.
11th over: 70 for 2. Johan Botha is back into the attack and picks up Kallis. This is a big wicket for the Rajasthan. Kallis tries to slog sweep, misses the ball completely and is been adjudged LBW. Manoj Tiwary, right handed bat, comes to the crease.

Turner Broadcasting System to shut 'Imagine TV' in India

Mumbai: US-based Turner Broadcasting System Inc, a Time Warner company, has decided to shut its Hindi general entertainment channel 'Imagine TV' in India as poor ratings hampered any further investment in it, a senior company official said.
Turner had bought a majority stake in the channel from Indian broadcaster NDTV in 2009 for $117 million.
The channel's India and international feed 'Imagine Dil Se', which will be shut with effect from today, failed to achieve consistency in ratings, Siddharth Jain, managing director, South Asia, Turner International India told Reuters on Thursday.

"Imagine TV has not performed and grown as per our expectations," he said.
Imagine was Turner's second attempt in the highly competitive general entertainment (GEC) space in India after its GEC Real, a joint venture with Miditech, failed.
Turner currently operates channels such as HBO, CNN, Cartoon Network, POGO, WB in India.
The company, however, remains committed to long-term investment in India and will continue to look for investment opportunities in the country, Jain said.

No one is my buddy in Bollywood: Bipasha Basu

New Delhi: Even after completing a decade in the industry, actress Bipasha Basu says she has no close friends in Bollywood. The 33-year-old actress says she has her own reservations when it comes to approaching a filmmaker for a role.
"If I meet someone at a function, I do say hello. I am cordial to all. However, I can't pick up the phone next morning and propose to plan a film together. A lot of this is also due to the fact that no one is my buddy in Bollywood. I know that for some out there this does count. Nothing wrong with that but then that's just not me," Bipasha told PTI.
"On my speed dial, there is no one from the industry. When a role is offered and it is good enough then I do that. Otherwise I wait for the next right opportunity," she added.

However, in the cut throat competition that prevails in Bollywood, doesn't she feel that she could be losing out on movies?
"Possibly, but then as I said, it's a conscious call. I haven't created such equations because I am not comfortable doing that. I can't see myself saying that Hey, we are friends so give me a role in your film."
