IPL 5: RCB, CSK share points after washout

IPL 5: RCB, CSK share points after washout
11 p.m. The match has been officially called off. One point each to RCB and CSK. So both the teams are now with nine points, which takes Chennai to number three and Bangalore to number four on the points table.
10:45 p.m. The rain is not relenting, which means, in all likelihood, the match is going to be abandoned. No official word yet, though.
10:15 p.m. As the ground staff started taking some of the covers off, the drizzle became more intense. Some of the spectators have started leaving as well. All in all, not much chances of match commencing.
9:50 p.m. If anything, the rain has just got heavier here in Bangalore. Looking rather bleak.

IPL 5: Tendulkar credits youngsters for beating KXIP
Mohali: Sachin Tendulkar acknowledged the brilliant batting effort by the young batsmen of Mumbai Indians as they recorded a stunning four-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in an IPL match on Wednesday. Tendulkar, who skippered the IPL side in the previous four seasons, praised the trio of Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu and Robin Peterson for not throwing in the towel under pressure.

IPL 5: Rayudu heroics help Mumbai bury Punjab
Robin Peterson and Ambati Rayudu proved to be the unlikely heroes for Mumbai Indians as they pulled off a four-wicket victory over Kings XI Punjab that had looked highly improbable until the penultimate over of this IPL 5 game. 32 runs were required off 12 balls when Piyush Chawla came on to bowl, the equation was down to 5 off 6 by the time he was done. And despite the best efforts of the excellent Azhar Mahmood, Rayudu smacked a four to finish off the match in Mohali on Wednesday with one ball to spare.

IPL5: RCB take on RR in crucial away tie

While with four wins from seven outings, Rajasthan are placed second on the points table, the sailing has not been that smooth for Bangalore who have three wins and as many losses from their six matches.

Mumbai: Two hours in jail for a game of cricket

Mumbai: In a shocking case of inhuman treatment meted out to innocent children, the Vashi police detained six children for over two hours on Friday evening. Their mistake was that they were playing in their building compound.
The cops also detained the childrens' parents, who had come to enquire about the whereabouts of their children, and reportedly abused them. The police took this step after 40 year-old Shruti Bhatt, a resident of Sun Villa apartment, Sector 28, Vashi complained about the kids making noise in the premises while playing.
The incident took place at 6 pm on Friday when Saurabh Bhosle (13), Vikram Agri (13), Sidhant Puthalat (13), Siddharth Dube (12), Anish Khanapurkar (13), residents of Sun Twinkle Apartments, were playing cricket along with 12 year-old Niket Joshi, resident of the adjoining Sun Villa apartments at the latter's building. Bhat started shouting at them for playing there and making a commotion. Soon the children moved to the adjoining road. But 15 minutes later, two beat marshals from Vashi police station came and started abusing them.
Mumbai: Two hours in jail for a game of cricket
Despite telling the cops that they had moved on the road to avoid inconvenience to Bhat, the beat marshals started verbally abusing the kids. Apparently they also slapped Niket Joshi twice. They didn't stop there and crammed the children in Bhat's car and took them to Vashi police station forcibly.
Bhosle, a student of Father Agnel school, said "Bhat came out of her flat, took our photographs and started shouting at us to get out of the building. So we started playing cricket on the road. After some time, two policemen came and started abusing us for playing in the building premises earlier. They also slapped Niket twice, forcibly packed us in Bhat's car and took us to Vashi police station. We were made to sit there for over two hours and weren't allowed to even contact our parents."
