Give your EWS lists, govt tells public schools

ParentsNew Delhi: On the day when the Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of the Right To Education Act, 2009, the Delhi government sent letters to all public schools in the city, seeking figures regarding admissions of students from the economically weaker section (EWS) and disadvantaged groups, for the academic year 2012-13.
According to sources, the letters were sent to the schools to collate data regarding the seats that “may still be vacant” in the EWS category. Once the data is collated, the vacant seats will be notified by the Directorate of Education, to be filled by the government. However, schools believe that the data is likely to be used for payments to the schools “toward reimbursements.”
Principal of Ahlcon Public School, Ashok Pandey said, “We send the data to the Department of Education (DoE) every year but no payments have been made for the years 2011 and 2012.” He said a small amount...
