Requiring two runs in the last over, Pathan hits Rajat Bhatia for a boundary off the first ball as the visitors start off their IPL 5 campaign with an eight-wicket win over Kolkata. Pathan finishes with 42 not out off 20 balls, which includes three sixes and two fours. Glenn Maxwell remains not out on 3.
10th over: Delhi 87 for 2 Irfan Pathan is in full flow. After hitting a six off Kallis, Pathan follows it up with two maximums off de Lange. The left-hander has taken Delhi with in a striking distance of Kolkata's total.
8th over: Delhi 59 for 2 Delhi lose one wicket after another. Now their skipper Virender Sehwag departs. He is taken brilliantly by Iqbal Abdulla at the long-on fence.

5th over: Delhi 39 for no loss A very good over by Jacques Kallis as only five runs come off it. It's time for Delhi to increase the scoring rate.
4th over: Delhi 34 for no loss First six of Delhi's innings. Iqbal Adullah feeds Sehwag a pitched-up delivery which is dispatched for the maximum over long-on.
3rd over: Delhi 26 for no loss Another ten runs have been scored off Brett Lee's second over as the Delhi openers make a rollicking start. Not losing wickets here will be the key for the visitors.
2nd over: Delhi 16 for no loss South African pace bowler Marchant de Lange makes his IPL debut. Eleven runs have been taken off the tall right arm bowler's first over.
1st over: Delhi 5 for no loss Brett Lee is on the target from ball one as he doesn't give Delhi's openers - Aaron Finch and Virender Sehwag - room to free their arms.

9:30 p.m.: The water from the covers has rolled over to the field as the covers were being removed. That's the worry for the umpires as it has left the 30-yard area around the pitch damp.
9:00 p.m.: The ground staff has time until 11:20 p.m. - the cut-off time - to get the ground ready for a five-over match. Any delay beyond that and the game will be called off.
8:30 p.m.: The Eden Gardens is water-logged. The groundsmen are working hard to dry the ground with Super Sopper. But there are still pools of water on the outfield. Looking bleak, with the good news being that the rain has stopped.
8:00 p.m: The rain is still coming down, delaying the toss. Though heavy wind is blowing across the ground, it's hardly affecting intensity of the rain. Next update at 8:30 p.m.

7:20 p.m.: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the second match of the IPL season five between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils at the Eden Gardens. A lot will be at stake on this match as both the teams would like to get off the mark in the marquee tournament with a win. The spectators would be hoping to see a better contest than what was witnessed last night in the opener between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at Chepauk.
Thursday's game will be a contest between a formidable Kolkata and a thin-looking Delhi. While the hosts are holding all the aces - foreign players - up their sleeve, the visitors may find it hard to go about their business in the absence of some of their key foreign imports - Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen and David Warner. The onus will once again be on skipper Virender Sehwag to give Delhi a solid opening. Winning the toss and batting should be the order of the day on a good wicket at the Eden.
