Live updates: Delhi off to a brisk start

Delhi Daredevils:
3rd over: 31 for 0. Albie Morkel bowls an expensive over and gives away 12 runs. Sehwag plays the best shot of this over, just a smooth flow of the bat takes the ball over the covers boundary.
2nd over: 19 for 0. Sehwag faces his first ball of the match from Bollinger and guess what, he flashes hard and the ball races to the extra-cover boundary for four.
1st over: 12 for 0. Naman Ojha hits three consecutive boundaries off Albie Morkel in this over. First two fours goes in the fine-leg region and the third one to the third-man boundary.

Chennai Super Kings:
20th over: 110 for 8. Four run outs and some tight bowling by Delhi bowlers helped the hosts to restrict Chennai to a low score of 110. When Delhi comes out for chase, it shouldn't be difficult for them unless they make some silly mistakes.
19th over: 103 for 7. After the Australia tour, Umesh Yadav is a changed bowler and this can be seen how he is bowling tonight. He clean bowls Bravo.
Dwayne Bravo b Yadav 22 (31)
18th over: 94 for 6. Dhoni couldn't deal with the slow nature of the pitch and plays a shot straight into the hands of deep mid-wicket off Morne Morkel.
MS Dhoni c Jayawardene b Morkel 11 (18)
17th over: 89 for 5. Dhoni now needs to take the initiative and take the attack to the opposition. The slower bowlers are cutting down the pace where scoring becomes hard.
16th over: 83 for 5. van der Merwe completes his overs by giving away just 15 runs. A small total can also be a daunting target for Delhi, when they come out for chase.
15th over: 80 for 5. Dhoni and Bravo fail to launch attack, as both the left-arm spinners continue to choke the run-flow.
14th over: 78 for 5. Chennai are now moving at a slow pace and the boundaries are hard to come, forget sixes. Maybe, the moisture in the wicket has dried out and the wicket is now on the slower side.
13th over: 73 for 5. Just one run coming from this over from Nadeem. Dwayne Bravo plays five dot balls and finds it hard to get off the strike.
12th over: 72 for 5. Skipper Dhoni comes out to bat and finds it difficult to score right at the outset. Just four runs coming from this over of van der Merwe.
11th over: 68 for 5. What a catch by wicketkeeper, Naman Ojha to remove Jadeja. While going for a wild slash off Pathan, Jadeja edges to Ojha behind the stumps.
Ravindra Jadeja c Naman Ojha b Irfan Pathan 13(17)
10th over: 66 for 4. In desperation of making runs, Chennai batsmen are repeating the same mistakes. Badrinath plays to short fine-leg and a sharp work by the fielder gets him run out.
S Badrinath run out 15 (16)
9th over: 63 for 3. Badrinath heaves one over mid-wicket for a huge six off Pietersen. Chennai take 10 runs from this over and KP looks distraught for some reason.
8th over: 53 for 3. Scoring runs out in the middle is difficult, but CSK batsmen are able to score an odd boundary. This partnership between Jadeja and Badrinath hold key to Chennai innings.
7th over: 47 for 3. Again a poor judgement of a single. Raina plays to point and calls for a single and realises there is no run, but then it was too late. Just six runs coming from this Pietersen over.
Suresh Raina run out 17 (16)
6th over: 41 for 2. Another miserly over from Morne Morkel. Raina and Badrinath are finding it difficult to score freely at the middle.
5th over: 35 for 2. A decent over from Umesh Yadav, apart from a six hit by Suresh Raina. This over Chennai managed to get only 7 runs.
4th over: 28 for 2. du Plessis plays a uppish shot off Morne Morkel and in the process handed catch at the extra-cover area. This is quite unlike Ferozeshah track, the ball has a good carry and bounce.
Faf du Plessis c van der Merwe b Morkel 15 (12)
3rd over: 26 for 1. Expensive over from Irfan Pathan. He gives away 14 runs in this over.
2nd over: 8 for 1. The run out of Vijay has not changed the attitude of du Plessis, as he is finding the odd boundaries in between. Last ball off Umesh Yadav, he crashes one on the offside for a boundary.
1st over: 4 for 1. Faf du Plessis calls for a single and Murali Vijay responds and finds his partner backing out. This was the first ball of first over and what a start for Delhi.
Teams:
Chennai Super Kings: Faf du Plessis, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, MS Dhoni (wk/capt), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shadab Jakati, Doug Bollinger
Delhi Daredevils: Virender Sehwag (capt), Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, Naman Ojha (wk), Yogesh Nagar, Venugopal Rao, Irfan Pathan, Roelof van der Merwe, Shahbaz Nadeem, Morne Morkel, Umesh Yadav
8:00 pm: Both the captains are here for the toss. Virender Sehwag wins the toss and has opted to bowl first.
Delhi have included Kevin Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardene in the team and with their joining the hosts look formidable in this contest.
7:36: The match has been delayed due to a wet outfield. Hopefully the ground staff manages to dry the wet patches and get the game going. However, the exact time of toss and start of play is not known as of now. Stay tuned for further updates.
7:15 pm: Welcome to the 11th match of IPL between Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground in New Delhi. The match is touted to be a clash between the skippers of both the teams, Dhoni and Sehwag. It is believed that the rift between the two have been settled, but they would like to settle some scores in this match.
Delhi is a changed side compared to the last edition and with Kevin Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardene joining the squad, things look bright for the home team. In the evening, it has rained heavily for a while, but things have cleared now and we might have a full game.
