Fresh tsunami alert issued after second earthquake hits Indonesia

Banda Aceh: Hours after the massive 8.6-magnitude earthquake hit waters off Indonesia on Wednesday, another massive quake measuring 8.2 on the Richter Scale hit the Aceh province in the country.
Following the second earthquake, Indonesia issued a fresh tsunami warning, which extended for two hours. Notably, Indonesia had earlier scaled down the tsunami warning which was issued after the 8.6 quake.
The first 8.6-magnitude quake off Aceh province, hours earlier, had spawned a wave around 30 inches (80 centimeters) high but caused no serious damage.

Delhi crush Chennai by 8 wickets

Delhi Daredevils:
11th over: 87 for 2. Pietersen has taken a special liking for Jadeja. The left-arm spinner bowls on the shorter side and KP rocks back to slaps it through covers for a four.
10th over: 79 for 2. For Jayawardene, it's always the classy way. He plays late and just steers one through the covers region for a boundary. One or two boundaries in a over will take Delhi through.
9th over: 69 for 2. Now Jayawardene and Pietersen can take Delhi home from here on. With overs left things won't be difficult for these experienced batsmen.
8th over: 64 for 2. Kevin Pietersen playing his first match of the tournament makes his intent clear. The fifth ball off Jadeja, Pietersen dances down the track and clears long-off with ease.

IPL 5: Pollock hints at Tendulkar absence against RR

Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar is likely to miss Wednesday's IPL 5 game against Rajasthan Royals but cannot be ruled out of the entire tournament, according to Mumbai Indians' team mentor and bowling coach Shaun Pollock. "It's a long tournament, so we give him every chance, every game to see if he will be fit. I am not sure about tomorrow, whether there will be enough time [for him to be fit]. I think by the time the 16th game [against Delhi Daredevils here] comes around, everything should be fine [with Tendulkar]," Pollock said at the pre-match media conference. "Who knows if he feels better tomorrow, we will be happy to give him a chance [to play].”

IPL 5: Gambhir, Balaji star in KKR's first win

Bangalore: It took a couple matches, but finally Kolkata Knight Riders got on board the IPL 5 points table with a 42-run drubbing of hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore. A spectacular batting collapse from KKR had threatened to prove decisive, but in the end a total of 165 was more than enough as L Balaji rocked Bangalore – who welcomed back Chris Gayle - with 4 for 18.
If the second half of the Kolkata innings was sloppy, the start to their defence of 165 was superb. Bangalore's run-chase was dented in the second over when Cheteshwar Pujara steered Jacques Kallis to Yusuf Pathan at slip, but the massive wicket came in the fourth over when Gayle top-edged Kallis to mid-on for an eight-ball 2. Suddenly 166 looked a long way off.

Live updates: Delhi off to a brisk start

Delhi Daredevils:
3rd over: 31 for 0. Albie Morkel bowls an expensive over and gives away 12 runs. Sehwag plays the best shot of this over, just a smooth flow of the bat takes the ball over the covers boundary.
2nd over: 19 for 0. Sehwag faces his first ball of the match from Bollinger and guess what, he flashes hard and the ball races to the extra-cover boundary for four.
1st over: 12 for 0. Naman Ojha hits three consecutive boundaries off Albie Morkel in this over. First two fours goes in the fine-leg region and the third one to the third-man boundary.

Miss Universe changes rules to include transgender women

New Delhi: The Miss Universe pageant is changing its rules and will allow transgender women to take part in all of its competitions starting in 2013, the organization and gay rights group GLAAD said on Tuesday. Tuesday's decision follows a media outcry over the disqualification of Canadian contestant Jenna Talackova from the upcoming Miss Universe Canada contest because she was not a 'naturally born female.'
Talackova 23, who underwent gender reassignment surgery when she was 19, was reinstated to the Canadian competition last week by businessman Donald Trump, who owns the Miss Universe organization. Talackova has a Canadian passport, driver's license and other documents that identify her as a woman
Following consultations with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Miss Universe 'discussed a policy change that includes transgender women in time for the start of this fall's 2013 pageant season; a time when most of the competitions around the world begin to take place,' the two groups said in a joint statement.
